Instant Memory is a handy application that allows users to memorize things in a snap. The program has a not very attractive but very intuitive user interface. The registered version includes three levels, 3 practice styles (all items at once, one item every X seconds, or 2 items every X seconds), and 9 categories (letters, numbers, alphanumeric characters, U.S. cities, U.S. states, world cities, countries, telephone numbers, and people). The trial version only allows users to try 'all the items at once', which for me is the most difficult one.
The program provides 5 practices for each category, so you can do these exercises for a long time. The training technique is always the same: you are given elements belonging to the selected category in a certain order and after that you need to type them in as fast as you can in that exact order. I think it may become rather boring after a while, and some more techniques could be added. It is important to highlight that this isn't a game, it is a training exercise to improve your memory.
